The Committee notes the observations from the Grenada Trades Union Council (GTUC) communicated with the Government’s report.

Application of the Convention in practice. The Committee notes the GTUC’s observations in which it highlights: (1) the need to raise awareness among agricultural workers on the rights and benefits afforded to them under the National Insurance Scheme (NIS); (2) the need for labour inspections to be conducted in the workplace of estate workers; and (3) the absence of available statistics regarding the application of the Convention. The Committee requests the Government to provide its comments in this respect and to provide information, if available, on: (i) the number of accidents at work registered in agriculture, the violations detected by the labour inspection services in this context and the number and nature of penalties applied; (ii) the measures adopted or envisaged to raise awareness of agricultural workers on their rights under the Convention; and (iii) statistical data concerning the number of applications for compensation regarding accidents at work submitted by agricultural workers and the respective benefits paid to them.
