Article 4 of the Convention. Total or partial exceptions – Essential Services. Further to its previous comments, the Committee notes that in its report the Government indicates that, in practice, weekly rest for essential services’ workers is governed by the Labour Act’s provisions on days and hours of work. The Committee notes this information which addresses its previous request.
Article 5.Compensatory rest. The Committee notes that in response to its previous comments regarding the lack of provisions in the Labour Act on compensatory rest for work during weekly rest, the Government indicates that an analysis of the relevant national legislation is being conducted with the ILO technical assistance, based on which a review of the legislation will be carried out, including the insertion of a provision on compensatory rest. The Committee accordingly requests the Government to provide information on any progress made regarding the granting of compensatory rest to workers called to work during their weekly rest, including through the revision of the Labour Act.
