The Committee notes the observations of the Authentic Workers’ Confederation of the Republic of Mexico (CAT) communicated with the Government’s report. It also notes the observations of the National Union of Workers (UNT), received on 5September 2025. The Committee requests the Government to provide its comments in this respect.
Application of the Convention in practice. The Committee notes the observations of CAT, which report that disguised forms of work and conditions that indirectly violate the spirit of the Convention have been detected in informal industrial sectors. CAT indicates that there are documented cases of young persons who combine night shifts with work or education, without effective rest of 12 continuous hours, as well as shortcomings in the supervision of extended working days in, inter alia, the maquila, agro-industry, packing and mining sectors. The Committee requests the Government to provide its replies in this respect. It also requests the Government to provide information on the manner in which the Convention is applied to young persons who work in formal and informal industrial enterprises, including, for example, extracts of official reports and detailed statistical data indicating the number of violations relating to night work by young persons under 18 years of age detected by the labour inspectorate, and the penalties imposed in this regard.
