Article 1 of the Convention. Applicable legislation. The Committee notes the Government’s indication that a new committee has been formed within the Iraqi Naval Authority and will soon be in a position to provide information on measures implementing the Convention. Taking note of the above, the Committee recalls that previous reports of the Government referred to both Section 42(b) of the Instructions and Directives of the Iraqi Port Administration (1969) as amended, and Amendment No.1 (1975) to these Instructions and Directives as giving effect to Article 1 of the Convention. With the apparent establishment of a new authority dealing with port matters, the Committee requests the Government to provide, where relevant, an update on laws or regulations within the purview of the Iraqi Naval Authority in relation to the marking of loads transported by sea or by inland waterway, in particular when the package or object has a gross weight of more than one thousand kilograms (one metric ton), as provided for in Article 1(1) of the Convention.
