Articles 2 to 5 of the Convention. Seafarers’ identity documents. In reply to its previous comments, the Committee notes with interest the information provided by the Government in its report indicating that Indonesia has aligned its procedures for Seafarers’ Identity Documents (SID) with international standards, including ICAO guidelines, and integrated them with national immigration processes. The Government further indicates that the SID system is operational at seaports with ongoing efforts to enhance efficiency, transparency, and service quality. The Committee commends the Government for its efforts and welcomes this important progress, which will benefit a high number of seafarers in one of the major seafarer-supplying countries. The Committee requests the Government to provide a specimen of the new SID to the Office as soon as possible. It further requests the Government to provide detailed information on the legal, administrative, and operational measures taken to ensure full compliance with the requirements of Articles 2–7 of the Convention.
