Comments and observations

20 March 2026: Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
(From the Office of the Commissioner for Maritime Affairs)

This Administration has maintained continuous communication with the MLC Shipowner in order to resolve this situation effectively. However, so far, we have received only assurances.

On 18 March 2026, the MLC Shipowner informed this Administration that arrangements had been made to settle the crew’s wages within the following week. He further stated that he had visited the vessel and assured the crew that their relief would be carried out as a matter of top priority at the earliest opportunity, taking into account the challenging circumstances faced by both the company and the UAE region.

Should the MLC Shipowner fail to comply with the above, this Administration will be compelled to suspend all statutory certificates, request an additional MLC inspection by the Recognized Organization, and initiate a claim against the MLC Financial Security Provider on the basis that the crew may be considered abandoned, having been left without wages for a period exceeding two (2) months.
