We acknowledge receipt of your communication regarding the case of General Cargo Ship “BIRD 16” (IMO 9124201) and the reported abandonment of seafarers.

The Administration takes these matters under the Maritime Labor Convention (MLC, 2006) very seriously. We have immediately instructed the vessel owner and concerned parties to take all necessary actions without any further delay to resolve the situation, including the payment of outstanding wages and repatriation of the affected seafarers.

The owner has been formally notified to expedite compliance measures. In the event of continued failre to comply with the requirements of the Convention and this Administration’s instructions, appropriate enforcement action will be taken, including the removal of the vessel from the registry of this Administration.

We assure you that this Administration remains fully committed to upholding international maritime labor standards and will continue to monitor the situation closely.
