We’ve been informed by the ITF Inspector dealing with CARRIBEAN PEARL that the case should be DISPUTED not RESOLVED.

Crew repatriated and a partial payment of owed wages (one month only).

Please update your database to reflect this.


1 July 2026: International Maritime Organisation
The information that the notification been forwarded to the relevant departments of the Ecuadorian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility in order to ensure that the appropriate consular assistance is provided, is duly noted and will be recorded on the joint IMO/ILO database of abandonment of seafarers.

Please note that according to the attached confirmation from ILO which IMO received yesterday 30 June 2026, this new abandonment case has meanwhile been resolved.


1 July 2026: Ecuador

I refer to your email of 26 June 2026 concerning the notification of abandonment of the General Cargo Ship ‘Caribbean Pearl’, IMO number 8919831, with 13 seafarers on board, including one Ecuadorian national.

In this regard, and whilst thanking you for the information provided, I am pleased to inform you that this information has been forwarded to the relevant departments of the Ecuadorian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility in order to ensure that the appropriate consular assistance is provided.

Thank you for your message and also for all your effortless actions in resolving abandonment cases.

Regarding you request for clarity we received the attached confirmation from ILO yesterday 30 June 2026 that this new abandonment case concerning the ‘Carabean Pearl’ has meanwhile been resolved.

Once again many thanks, we look forward to receiving all further details as convenient.


1 July 2026: Spain
(From the Permanent Representation to the IMO)

According to the information provided in the link of this particular case of the the ILO/IMO joint database on abandonment, the case status is RESOLVED. ITF reported on the 23 of June that crew was repatriated with their owed wages.

Our Maritime Administration is also requesting the details of our national on board to double check whether everything was sorted out.


30 June 2026: International Labour Organization
The information provided by the Embassy of Columbia to the UK has been successfully added to the ILO/IMO joint database on abandonment of seafarers.
FYI, the case of Caribbean Pearl (8919831) has been updated to Resolved in the database, following the ITF’s confirmation received on 23 June 2026.

We are awaiting for any further updates from the ITF if necessary.


29 June 2026: Colombia

Thank you for the information regarding the three Colombian citizens stranded in the Suez Canal. This information will be forwarded to the Consular Affairs Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Colombia in order to initiate contact with the individuals concerned.


26 June 2026: Palau
(From the Palau Ship Registry)

Palau Ship Registry Administration is presenting its compliments to the IMO Legal Affairs Office.

In response to the below received eMail notification for the case of the vessel CARIBBEAN PERAL (8919831), we would like to confirm that this Flag Administration has initiated communication with the vessel's Managers and all related parties and in communication with Mr. *** (ITF Inspector, Panama, RIC), as initial reporting party.

We will revert in a following eMail message for the actions taken up to date and relevant documentary evidence currently available for the Repatriation, Salary Payments up to month April and provisions supplied to the vessel.
Palau Ship Registry Administration is continuing its efforts to resolve the remaining issues and to ensure optimal coordination for the closure of the case.

There is a reported case of harassment involving the only female seafarer whose employment contract expired on 16th April 2026 The owners and operators have neither arranged for her repatriation nor arranged for others who have requested to be sent home. No medical attention has been provided to crew members with reported skin illnesses and diabetes.
