9 Juillet 2021: Organisation maritime internationale
I just retrieved the attachment that was sent on behalf of Mr. Subsash Berguzar, Deputy Director of Shipping of India, concerning six Indian seafarers who are still onboard who have not received their May and June salaries.
In particular, since the details of only 5 Indian Seafarers on board the said vessel could be found, Mr. Berguzar requests if ITF could forward also information (Name of Seafarer, INDoS No., Passport No., CDC No. etc.) concerning the sixth Indian Seafarer to his Office. It doesn’t say who the other 5 seafarers are but I forward this for your information and you action, as appropriate.

From IGP&I
Shipowners Club who are the P&I insurer have been liaising with their member to try and resolve the situation. I can report that the outstanding wages have been settled and a crew change has taken place, with the exception of six Indian seafarers who are still onboard who have not received their May and June salaries. A meeting had taken place last week with the Club and the member who confirmed that all crew wages up to 18 June have been settled and Shipowners Club are awaiting confirmation of payment. The vessel is currently in Abu Dhabi and repatriation arrangements are also being made but there have been difficulties the local Immigration authorities in relation to the issuance of their visas which they are trying to resolve. Shipowners have also reported that a recommendation was made to transfer these seafarers to another vessel of the owners which would sail to Dubai and repatriate them from there. The crew rejected this and remain on board. The Shipowners Club have been in touch with ITF during this time to try and resolve the situation as quickly as possible.
